Summary: Unable to boot without a root
Description:
This is on an all scsi system including the CDROM. The drivers involved are
aic7xxx (/dev/sda) and ips (/dev/sdb) and the CDROM is /dev/sr0. The CDROM
is connected to the aic7xxx.

Using F1 screen (normal install) and pressing enter it displays the
summary of this report waiting for me to press Enter which I do and it
moves on to the Initrd Menu. If I choose Continue Booting, it then
displays "Unable to locate /sbin/init on . ". Press Ok and I am back at
the Initrd Menu.

I could see during start up the aic7xxx and ips were detected. So on the
Initrd Menu I choose the root device and enter "/dev/sr0", iso9660, etc
and then select to continue boot, which it does. At this point I can
progress with the install and eventually run into the problem noted with
bug report 55.

So starting over and use F2 instead of F1. If I just press Enter and not
use "linux aic7xxx ips" I get the "Unable to boot without a root" screen
again but pressing Enter and it moves on to the Initrd Menu. Again no root
device is chosen and I have to specify /dev/sr0 to move on.

Again starting over and using F2. I enter "linux aic7xxx" and the unable
to boot without a root does not show up, going directly to the Initrd
Menu. Starting over again with F2 and entering "linux ips" takes me
straight to the Initrd Menu. In each case here I still have to specify
/dev/sr0 at the boot device. In either case I still do not have a the
choice of /dev/sdb during the partitioning phase and have to drop to shell
and run cfdisk.
