Sofar and i looked into this some time back, The problem with using
this idea is that frankly the torrent clients would not allow for
multiple files off of the same server at that time. some feature
requests went into ctorrent I think to implement the features we
would need to allow for a torrent based mirroring system for all of
the source packages.
Basically if you want to research the actual use and requirements of
seeding 2500+ files with a torrent and having it automatically
maintained as a daemon and fun other things i say go for it! for the
servers and the users the ability to have only one torrent seeding
application would be the holy grail, with a simple hup to add new
seeds and such to its list of available torrents. i personally don't
see having All 2500 files either on torrents. probably only source
files greater than say 10 MB? this would cut down the list drastically.
Feel free to start the requirements planning for ltorrent if you
want to step up to the plate of implementing the backend :-P
