lets pertend
mandrake
/dev/hda1  aka
/dev/discs/dick1/part1
lunar
/dev/hda2
/dev/discs/disc1/part2
windows
/dev/hda3
/dev/discs/disc1/part3

in mandrake lunar's root and boot are mounted in /mnt/lunar

you will have this in mandrake now

image                   =       /boot/vmlinubz-2.4.20
        label           =       mandrake
        root		=	/dev/discs/disc0/part1
        read-only
other                   =       /dev/discs/disc0/part3
        label           =       windows

add
image                   =       /mnt/lunar/boot/vmlinubz-2.4.20
        label           =       lunar
	root=/dev/discs/disc0/part2
        read-only

also i think lilo can chain to another lilo

i think if you have lilo install to boot=/dev/discs/disc1/part2
insted of
boot=/dev/discs/disc0/disc

and then lilo in mandrake would say
other		=	 /dev/discs/disc0/part2
	label	=	lunar_lilo

then you would run lilo i lunar when the kernel changed
and mandrake only once to tell it that there is another lilo to boot

have fun
