This is actually caused by GPM code needing a clean-up and possibly not
fully
supporting newer systems (x86-64).

The latest version available at the GPM site is is now gpm-1.20.2-BROKEN
and the maintainer is going to rewrite/redesign most if it,
according to his latest release notes.
(I tried the 1.20.2-BROKEN version: it still fails, but for different
reasons.)

This bug report can be closed as it is unrelated to lunar.
