Summary: After lunar update on 04/08/2007, root always mounts
as read-only after reboot
Description:
I have two systems with different hardware. After the kernel update on
April 8, 2007, I rebooted the system to find that / gets mounted read
only. This occurs on both systems. I have tried editing the grub line to
mount read write but that only causes errors during boot. If I edit the
grub boot line to boot 'single' and rw and I go into debug mode, I find
that the /boot directory is completely empty along with /dev. It appears
that during one of the last lunar updates, it corrupted the startup
scripts, or something got altered.
