This is exactly what the code currently does and how it is implemented.
I'll need to see exactly which case we're talking about (reproduced) to
verify, so please provide this.

during selection and configuration the aliases are not remembered
automatically, they are asked continually during a single lin.

the aliases code should check to see if the alias was chosen, not
necessarily only if its installed.
