This is a drupal bug. it uses timestamping to store the data and the
official UNIX timestamp cannot be lower than 0, which is 1-1-1970. You
should file a drupal bug (florin had the same problem)

I noticed under "my account" the section for birthday does not seem to
be working. I entered the correct info and it still shows me born 1 Jan
1970. While that's flattering, I guess. It's not quite right, off by 14
years and some odd months.
