perl update failing

I am desperate! Perl update is failing, leaving me with a broken system 
because many other things now won't rebuild because lunar thinks that 
perl is not installed. The build fails with:

         Making utilities

         Making x2p stuff

         Everything is up to date. Type '/usr/bin/make test' to run test
