Kernel upgrade problem

It is possible that your hda/hdb/hdc is now sda/sdb/sdc or mixed otherwise if you have edd enabled in kernel or have usb pendrive plugged in somwhere. I had problems with partitions once during boot just because I forgot to pull out usb pendrive from computer's back.
Send us .config file of your new kernel, we'll see, (and check if you don't have somewhere plugged in pendrive or usb hdd).
