Hi!
Here's the latest weekly news edition!
=====================================================================
Hi everyone!
I'm proud to welcome a few new mailinglist members who will try to follow
the trail of lunar crumbs I've left over the last 2 years there. I hope
they can follow the lunar development and keep those systems up the
way it has been for the last period. Welcome!
Other newcomers should know that next week I'm moving to the USA from
Europe with wife and cats, but as usual the developers group is very
capable of functioning without the project leader around.
Especially with major upgrades things are looking very good. The gcc-3.4.4
update is working out OK and we managed to get only a single critical
with that. This involved a bash bug that broke bash pretty much - of
course it was fixed asap. If you see weird behavious (bash hanging after
executing a new command) then you know you have been hit. Switch to
bash_static and update your moonbase and bash to fix.
Meanwhile behind the scenes we started using rotating DNS for some of
the downloads using a download.lunar-linux.org DNS entry pointing to
3 of the fastest mirrors we have. One of them just surpassed 1.0TB in
only 5 months or so - so you can see that we really need new and good
mirrors. Fortunately we have many generous people!
Perhaps we'll get to do some more porting work soon... I can't wait!
/sofar
