Hi everyone,
We're switching websites at the moment. Those of you who enjoyed
contributing on lunar by forums and comments can now take a more
progressive and constructive approach as we've setup a decent
wiki for the lunar documentation. The news part of the site also
changed a bit and is more stripped down, mostly because we don't
need that much discussion of news anyway as most of this already
happens on the mailinglist and forums.
While we're at it Striker took the honor of setting up the new
(phpBB) forums and mantis bug tracker, so that's familiar at least
for some of the longer time lunar users. I hope everyone finds
their way around the new site components quickly now.
We're working hard and need help on moving all the old howto's and
documentation snipplets back into the wiki. This is practically
open to everyone (it actually is, in the true wiki spirit) and so
I invite (encourage!) everyone to take some time to walk through
the wiki and add stories, tips and tricks that you have gathered
over time so we can get everything organized.
On the coding level, The rc1 release is looking ever so stable and
only minor changes are planned for the final. Meanwhile I've
dropped a i386 rc1 in the download directory as well and people
have reported that it works on i586. If you have a i486 or better,
a real i386, give it a try and let us know if it really is i386-
compatible! (I really can't test - even bochs fails to compile
or run in i386 mode).
I'm hoping to re-roll both ISO's this weekend and perform some last
checks before tuesday next week. Expect 1.5.1-final before friday
officially for sure ;^). And on the porting level: Work has
started on a amd64 port, but things are looking tough. I hope to
come up with 3-fold 1.5.2 release: x86_64, i686 and i386. Wish us
luck!
