well. i'm glad that's all over.

thanks for the light bulb ranitha. the problem was that sysfs wasn't
mounting, so udev couldn't mount and manage my crap right.

note to netsu: you might want to add a bit of info about how to mount
sysfs in your "Lunar on kernel 2.6" guide. :)
