xorg 681 and kde

kde would not log in for me after a fresh system install and using xorg 681. 
It would get to the peripherals (or there bouts) and then take me back to the 
login prompt.

It seems /tmp/.ICE-unix was owned by a normal user and not root (which it 
should be). I left the permissions on the base directory as they were, ie 
drwxrwxrwt. Killed kdm, deleted everything under .ICE-unix and chmoded it to 
root:root. After that I could login to kde.
