Hi!

Here's the latest weekly news edition!

=====================================================================

Quite the busy week folks, read along!

Amongst others I've been busy in the last couple of weeks doing quite the
bit of coding on the core. Some people may have noticed some weird things
happening with theedge, but all of those should be gone now ;^). There were
a surprising number of open ends and architectural ideas me and others
hadn't followed up on. Amazing.

The 'lunar set' command has been added, use it to view all, specific or even
set variables used by lunar internally. Usefull for people who like to tinker
with those variables. A new concept will be the MODULE_PREFIX handling,
allowing per-module or grouped prefix rotation. This will make lunar behave
completely the same, but will allow us developers to -much more easily-
compile different concurrent versions (amongst others). Hopefully docs
will catch up on that soon so you can try it out as well.

Nestu informs others that although his 2.6-mm kernel is horribly unstable,
util-linux now compiles fine and should be usable: "well, now it is patched
to compile with 2.6 headers".

Mister Nick "I GNOME" hudson has been preparing the arrival of gnome
2.6. For a little creature gnome-2.6 has been quite a delivery, as it still
is not released as we speak (he must be bigger than his smaller brother!).
Managed to create a Xorg module as well, which is the pre-killus-we-write-
mean-licenses fork of xfree86-4.4. Meanwhile he supposedly has a life,
incredible.

Speaking about docs, we've taken up the massive task of getting some more,
better and well-written documents. Hopefully everyone kicks in and helps
out with one of the *many* documents we have in the planning. Amongst others,
this list will include Networking, Security, Gnome, KDE, kernel-2.6 and more...
Anyone who feels like it is hereby invited to join the effort. Even if you
want to write one paragraph about *anything*... please help!

Sometime soon we'll cut over theedge to lunar BTW, there might be some
cosmetic ruffles on that but we'll make sure the transition is tested
before we put it out. See ya next week!
