Hi everyone,

I've been sending out chatty e-mails once every while so I thought I'd
elaborate more on moving stuff this week. Lets see if I can round up a
whole week and make this more or less a habit (unless you guys and girls
hate me spamming your inboxes) ;^)

Gettext has caused a bit of confusing and I've seen boxes completely
behave inexpectedly. As a general rule you can see that older boxes are
worse off. New boxes usually need only glibc recompiled, but I've seen
/usr/include/libintl.h disappear twice even tho glibc says it installed
it's own copy (which is just as good as the one from gettext). A gettext
recompile fixes this, but the glibc rebuild is *really* necessary in
most cases!

I've put a few updated games in moonbase, most lovely is flightgear, the
new version is huge (40mb download) but very worthwhile. foobillard was
fixed and now compiles for non-NVidia cards too. The new lgeneral is
quite an improvement as well.

In the serious sections, Moe donated his first module and it's even
using CVS sources, Wine-cvs! Might I add that the latest stable Wine
already runs applications like autocad2000, which I was happy enough to
test this week at work (look chief, it's autocad under xfce!). Then
there's a new pan2, which is superseding pan in looks by far.

Terry: one day I'll remove gtk+-1.2 from moonbase ;^P

Some people had wrong md5sums on openoffice-1.0.3.1, which hit the
mirrors this week too, if anyone has a clue I'd like to know, it's
really a waste of bandwidth, especially if this can be prevented. The
other bloated text editor also had a version bump. Yes, I'm talking
about xemacs ;^P. While I'm looking at it I just recall updating vim
myself as well. That's 4 bloated text-editors in a week!

Aside from that a whole range of core libraries was updated, mostly core
xml stuff, you know, the boring (who knows what it does?) stuff. Thanks
to Jol for the Python additions.

I left the core code aside for a bit, since the gettext stuff was
occupying my time. I'm also trying to release a new ferm myself and then
there is a major openssl upgrade at hand. Oh, it requires pretty much
every ssl-dependant app to be recompiled, so go buy some liquid N to
cool those athlons out there.

Completely aside from that I'm planning on a small break from the 17th
to the 1st of june. I'll leave the what-is-new bot running so you'll at
least talk about me while I'm gone ;^)

PS feel free to discuss any of these on the ML or in #lunar on
irc.freenode.net!
