Are you sure everything rebuilt properly? If you look in your /usr/src
directory, you should have only linux-2.4.20 and linux (as a symlink to
the first). Anything else probably denotes a failed build. You can also
run `lvu activity | grep failed` and see which packages failed (sorted
by date)
Also, unless you installed (via lin) vim or nano, what you were getting
when you ran either of those was actually e3 running in nano or vi mode.
I'd suggest installing nano and vim themselves. (and optionally lrm'ing
e3) e3 is included by default because it's smaller than putting half a
dozen different editors on the iso.

Well, I checked in /usr/src and the only thing there was linux-2.4.20 and linux as you described. I also tried the lvu activity | grep failed and there were a few things listed, but neither vim nor nano was there. Mostly it was perl not being able to download.
I have installed both vim and nano with lin, but nothing that I've read mentions e3, so perhaps that was it? Is there a link created during the install that (perhaps) is removed during the rebuild?
