I'm not up on what the issue is specifically, but something that breaks a lot
on my end is that some source looks for (assumes) libfontconfig.la
in /usr/X11R6/lib/ when infact it is located (at least on my box and a few
other lunar users' boxes) in /usr/lib/. I've just sim-linked and the issues
go away. Apparently (according to jas0n) that even worked for his kde3 build
errors.
Again, I don't know what the real issue is that this thread is about, these
are just my observations on my experiences with fontconfig. Sorry if this is
off topic or something that is just broken on my boxes.
