Do you have something which will use oss4? Alsa has OSS wrapper. Just add
to /etc/modules lines and reboot to use it:
snd-mixer-oss
snd-pcm-oss
snd-seq-oss

But if I prefer simple and usable OSS4? OSS4 supports per-app volume
control, also   it's cross-platform and has cleaner and easier to use API.
And there is the way to emulate ALSA.
