Summary: Cannot install Snort
Description:
Dear sir:
When I try to install snort with command
#lin -r snort
It show error 404 Not Found. (my error show below)
Could you please help me to resolve this.

It looks like the download directories have changed:
http://dl.snort.org/snort-current/snort-2.8.4.1.tar.gz
http://dl.snort.org/reg-rules/snortrules-snapshot-2.8.tar.gz
In the short term, you can download these manually,
put them in /var/spool/lunar and then try to lin using the -w
option (i.e. lin -w 2.4.8.1 snort) to use them. It might work.
You might consider updating a zlocal copy of the module
so that it works, and submitting the changes. For info see:

In the long term, someone will update the module for you.

Oops! Spotted a slight problem here ;-(
Snort.org allows subscription paying users to download the rules
immediately,
and registered users to download the rules after 30 days. Otherwise no
download.
So although you can see the download path, you can't automatically
download it.

I've updated the snort module to 2.8.4.1
but you are still going to be unable to download
unless you register as a user.
This should now be available in the moonbase,
so I shall mark this as resolved [awaiting confirmation]
