tuxracer installed and ran fine here with the NVIDIA blob.

just run 'lunar update' and installed the XOrg-7.3 updates,
including mesa-lib-7.0.1 update. but the problem remains.
the tuxracer FAQ has an entry about OpenGL errors, but as
the site doesn't appear to have been updated since 2001,
all of the version numbers are well out of date.
dveatch: mesa-lib has NVIDIA in the CONFLICTS file. I have
an ATI Radeon, but since my last install I'm still just using
the generic drivers. Maybe that's the problem.

What is your current status on this? If you are *not* using the NVIDIA
driver, then you need to "lin -rc xorg-server" and say "n", then lin
mesa-lib.

I've been round this several times now:
installed xorg-server 1.4 (no to NVIDIA)
installed mesa-lib 7.0.1
but tuxracer still fails to configure:
checking for GL library... yes
checking for glXGetProcAddressARB... yes
checking for GLU library... yes
checking for GL/gl.h... yes
checking for GL/glx.h... yes
checking whether glx.h defines glXGetProcAddressARB... no
configure: error: Your copy of glx.h is out of date. You can get a more
recent copy from the latest Mesa distribution
(http://mesa3d.sourceforge.net).
I've been trying to track down why this fails, but without success.
I shall attach the config.log
