Summary: no default in oldconfig causes lin linux-2.6 to loop
Description:
I've just installed 1.5.1 and am currently running the 2.4.31 kernel.
However, I think that I need the 2.6 kernel in order to install my SMCWPCI
card.

When running 'lin linux-2.6' the download and some of the preliminaries go
fine, but even though I thought I selected menuconfig, the installation
still calls oldconfig and gets stuck waiting for confirmation of the
processor type. The installation then loops, with the processor menu
scrolling endlessly by at high speed.

I've now interrupted and am attempting the configuration by hand, so this
might only be a minor rather than a major, but I would have been peeved if
I had left the installation overnight only to find that it was stuck so
early on.

Can't fix this - this will happen from time to time - the kernel devs keep
adding new options and every time they add a "number" config option this
will happen. Sorry.
