During the configure phase it checks for the presence of OpenEXR and
says;

checking for OpenEXR libraries... no
*** pkg-config installed, but no OpenEXR Libraries were found ***
*** Install OpenEXR package (from http://www.openexr.org)
*** if you want EXR image format support

I suggest making this an optional depends to kdelibs3. Attached is the
module.

Successfully compiled OpenEXR on gcc-3.3.3, 2.6.11-notify and
recompiled kdelibs3 without error.
