Hello dveatch,
Quotting the forum post about 'XOrg, XOrg-test and xorgcfg':
"Now, if we talk about headers, that has _absolutely nothing_ to do
with your running kernel, so please don't mix things up. You can be
running *any* kernel, 2.6.x, 2.5.x, 2.4.x... and still compile against
2.6 headers, provided by kernel-headers-2.6, for example. So running a
kernel doesn't mean that you compile against that exact kernel, K? So
your specs would be your gcc version, your glibc version and your
headers version, not just your [currently running] kernel version."

Now, talking in particular about updatedb, if you suspect that it is
borked, run gdb and backtrace. Try to see if that tells you what is
b0rking.

Why not try also to touch /var/cache/locate/locatedb, just in case it
is missing that?

Ciao

I am not sure this is related to the recent db changes though I suspect
it is but don't know how to prove it. This is on a fresh install. The
db updates/changes lined fine, no problems. So did findutils, compiled
fine. Yet when running "updatedb" instead of taking at least a few
moments to update it, it returns immediately back to the command
prompt, as though it did nothing at all and its database is not
updated. It did/does create /var/cache/locate/locatedb (I tried moving
the original out of the way).

So I tried "lunar nofix" as suggested here
http://lunar-linux.org/?q=node/view/701#comment-434 and the only thing
that came up was libnullplugin.so missing from mozilla-1.7.5.

So at this point I do not know what else to check.
