okay annoying but Numeric-23.x is completely hosed. Upstream the
tarballs were altered to require some new library that I have not been
able to compile. They also downported this and now Numeric-23.2 and up
all fail to compile. If anyone can fix this (and ki** a python coder)
then please do.
