Summary: Configure Error - c (cc) compiler unable to create executeables
Description:
Beginning 21 April (late), did a "lunar update" on one computer. It
reported about 8 modules to be updated. The following morning, it
appeared to have finished normally, but with an unusually large number of
modules being reported as removed (over 100), and 24 new failed modules
left in /usr/src, one of which was net-tools. When I tried to re-lin any
of the failed modules, they quickly failed the
configure test for a working c compiler. And, since net-tools was now
gone and couldn't be recompiled, I could
dial my ISP using PPP but couldn't connect to anything. I
restored the installation from backup and repeated the process twice more
with exactly the same results. Appending
--nofix to lunar update did not change the result.
