Hi,
I recently installed scribus and found an issue about the menu tree
entry for it. I was wondering that no new icon appeared in my k-menu
but since I start most of my apps just executing them from $PATH I
didn't care to much.
I checked the install log now and vnd.scribus.desktop is installed in
/opt/lunar/qt/3/share/applications/
And what to say.. it's pretty lonley in there. My kmenu doesn't index
this folder and I doubt that gnome (or any other desktop enviroment
with dynamic menu support) would check for .desktop files there.
Shouldn't this be installed to e.g. /usr/share/applications ?
I did the following steps to get this app in my kmenu for now:
ln -s /opt/lunar/qt/3/share/applications/vnd.scribus.desktop /usr/share/applications/
ln -s /opt/lunar/qt/3/share/pixmaps/scribusicon.png /usr/share/pixmaps/
And I edited vnd.scribus.desktop and added the following entry
Categories=Qt;KDE;Utility;X-KDE-Utilities-Desktop;Office;
because there are no categories defined in vnd.scribus.desktop and this
would result in a new nasty entry "unknown stuff" or something like
that in my k-menu.
Dunno who is the maintainer for scribus and I know this is just minor
eyecandy but I hope this will be fixed by someone with more knowhow
about how this path stuff works.
