Hi!

Here's the latest weekly news edition!

=====================================================================

Hi everyone!

A wee bit late, this weekly news! Two major reasons of course:

Gnome-2.10 is merged in moonbase! Cmak has been working in crater for over
two weeks and together with tchan and others has removed most of the
problems we had before with migrating gnome to the latest release. As it
turns out, gnome-2.10 works fine without hal and thus can work fine on
current 2.4 systems too.

We also reorganized most of the gnome modules in moonbase which broke
some of my weekly updates generation, so no list of new/removed modules
this week. Hopefully next week it will be back.

Another major activity was going on in theedge this week. The development
branch of the coretools has received a plugin system. This will allow
us to 1) split off uncommon code into modules (like rpm handling can
be installed/removed with the rpmunpack module) and 2) reduce the
code base of the core tools.

Due to 'lunar' not having this plugin system yet there is no difference
for the end user at the moment. We're doing major testing and will try to
merge everything back to lunar back as soon as we think it's possible.

Another rewrite was done in the lunar 'fix' and 'nofix' code. This
piece of code is now a bit more simple, which reduces a few loops people
may have been experiencing. The ldd check code has been optimized for
single-modules but will still perform well on AUTO_FIX.

People have been asking how to see and turn on some of these options. Most
of these options (if not all) can be set by running 'lunar' and changing them
in the options menu. From the commandline, use 'lunar set' etc. to change
them on the fly.

One last thing: this week the alias code will finally go live! We're completely
ready and hope you make sure you update your 'lunar' or 'theedge' before
if you haven't done so already this week!

Happy easter!
