Hi!

Here's the latest weekly news edition!

=====================================================================

Hi folks!

It's been a while since I wrote a weekly and there's good reasons for that of course. Planning to move is not easy and we've hit quite the few snag already. Fortunately everything still looks just fine although it's still al lot of work, time and money. We're planning to move halfway september FYI.

At the development front thins are moving slowly too. After the 1.5.0 ISO I've been thinking about releasing 1.5.1 with some needed fixes, and nestu has been working on adjusting the build for a 2.6-based iso. This is really a big job of course and it's a problem to work on together due to the size of the build, which can take over 6 hours and occupy 10's of gigabytes in total!

I've focussed some of my time on some minor ends in the core. There were a few download problems with the new url generator that needed attention, and I've taken the time to integrate lids' permission checker into a plugin. This needed two extra plugin hooks as well.

We had a small hiccup in the compiler wrappers that effectively disabled ccache and distcc in the last month due to double path editing. The fix has been included in the current core and now works without editing the PATH env, and thus it allows us to add more wrappers. I've added a debugging wrapper for 'ld' so we can see a little bit better how linking takes place. This might prove useful with those broken modules. As usual, you should use -vd when submitting bugreports of course, otherwise you won't see the difference.

On the mirror front things moved as well: the Texas mirror from Striker was moved between locations so the IP address has changed, and we have a new mirror on Cologne, Germany for a few weeks that's performing nicely. The mirrors have really helped in the last months to keep the main server spiffy and responding, so we are very thankfull to the people who operate them. Make sure you use the mirrors in case you need to, such as by setting LRESORT_URL.

I'm back to work ;^)

Meanwhile in #lunar:
