syntax errors starting network

I have looked at those lines called out. Line 40 is in the function
device_start() area where it does a modprobe but I can't see the error.
Line 85 is in the DHCP area and again I can't see the problem.
One other problem I have had with /etc/init.d/network is with restarting it.
The restart does not bring up my gateway setting. I have made mention of this
before but it appears no one but me has this problem.
