Hi!
Here's the latest weekly news edition!
=====================================================================
Hi all!
A bit late this weekly. I've changed the edition scheme so that the updates
are gathered on friday as usual so you don't miss any update in the weekly
updates list below, but it's now not sent out until I actually press the
big red button. That just gives me the opportunity to type something useful
instead of seeing it disappear into your mailboxes without some editorial.
We're a good 3 weeks on the new server now already and settled down completely
although there are some hiccups still here and there. We still don't have
proper Reverse DNS records... people who don't get mail: *sorry*, I can't
change some things and Me and Remco already push as hard as we can to get
the ISP/provider to sort this out with RIPE. Basically they never allocated
and registered reverse zones for their entire /17 network (*G*).
In case you want to monitor lunar module updates you can now add a new feed
to your RSS reader: http://lunar-linux.org/misc/updates.rss . This feed is
updated ever 5 minutes so you're welcome to check it hourly or so to get
the latest moonbase updates (note it includes most important updates and not
smaller fixes). Hope you enjoy it!
Best to go check the updates list since there are a few important ones out
there: rsync (security fix), mc(dito), postfix, apache (feature/bugfix), mysql
samba, Wine, libpng... make sure you keep your boxes patched! Mysql
administrators might appreciate the phpmyadmin module that sets up easily
to administrate a local mysql database. Also logwatch will help in auditing
and log monitoring.
Besides that there is a large list of updates pending... people wanting to
help out should submit modules to the mailinglist and help out testing
the ones submitted there, we can use the help ATM! Also feel free to report
(http://lunar-linux.org/report) and help debugging the currently outstanding
bugs in our bug tracker. Any help appreciated!
