things that depend on xine

i just installed Xfmedia (excellent program btw, makes the need for
totem nil, along with half of those stupid gnome libs) but, once
again, i've having issues with xine not being able to play though the
ALSA stream. if i use 'xine -A oss [filename]' it works wonderfully.

so my questions is, how can i either: rebuild xine to only use oss, OR
force things that use xine (rhythmbox, xfmedia, etc.) to use oss?
