Here's the latest weekly news edition!
Good day to everyone (or night if you're on the other side of the
earth). Yet another late weekly with the usual list of updates and
news in short. Dev meetings and work in progress consume my time
as usual so plenty to report.
Below in the lost you'll find Xfce4-beta2 as this was released last
weekend. The project is coming along fine and foo-projects is happy
with the exposure it is getting. The server is coping easily with the
extra load.
Behind the scenes work is in progress (hard hats obligatory) on some
ISO's and we have discussed transitional agenda from 2.4 to 2.6 as
the stable platform. As before, the bottle neck is still that a
smooth trajectory does not exist yet, as glibc has not released a
version that can support gcc-3.4 and more of that. An updated 2.4 ISO
is there fore in the making to be able to support 2.4 installs in
the future for those who want stability. More eyes are on the 2.6 ISO
but as it stands now it will need much more work before we can
offer it as the default. People who would like to help out testing
should report with us so we can coordinate a testing effort. There
are so many variables that need verification so please let us know
if you can spare the time (especially those who are on 2.4 ATM).
