perl -- custom configuration?

with perl previoulsy installed (same version) I did a 'lin -r -c perl'
For the first time ever I answered 'y' to the question "Custom Configuration 
Perl?"
I assumed this allowed you to answer some questions prior to the perl build 
process to customize "something", but I was not prompted for any sort of 
"custom" options... Is that right?  Or does "Customer Configuration" mean 
something like an alternative "preconfigured" option (besides the default), 
if so that's really poorly worded.
