How did I accomplish what? ;-)

fglrx: just a "lin fglrx" - no errors, up and running after reloading 
the new module (or perhaps the script did that for me - dunno), and 
restarting X-windows. I didn't really do anything :P

my perhaps strange combination of package versions is just me being too 
lazy to download a new kernel version, and I put xfree on hold before 
the upgrade to 4.4, just to be on the safe side in case the fglrx 
drivers I had didn't support x.org. No-one seems to have problems with 
Xorg now though, so I'll upgrade to Xorg .. umm.. soon ;-)
