Hi Chris,
  
  The alsa-driver must not be used with the 2.6
kernels. It is intended to be used with 2.4 kernels
only, as stated on the alsa web site. For the 2.6
kernels only alsa-lib and alsa-utils are necessary and
the alsa driver is selected in the kernel
configuration (as a module or as built-in).
