You are not alone on this.  Every lunar box of mine has the same "issue" 
now and again.  I've usually just been in the habbit of typing 'killall 
lin' before a 'lunar update'.

I wonder if that is something that could/should be added to a lunar 
update.  That is, first check for other lin processes; if found, prompt 
user if they want to end them (defaulting to no ofcourse).  If Y, then 
kill them, verify they died, and continue.  If N, then bail out of the 
update with a message explaining why.
