Hi everybody,
This weekend i have studied a new scheme for
installing the whole KDE system in lunar. The basic
idea can be found in the apollon module from kde3-apps
dir of the moonbase.
The new scheme is based on the sofar's idea applied
already to the xfce4 system. It allows us to have two
default dirs (KDEDIR and QTDIR) which are assigned by
the kde3.rc and qt3.rc files in the /etc/profile.d
dir. This default dirs can be easy changed using the
KDE_PREFIX and QT_PREFIX vars defined in the
/etc/lunar/config file. If any values are defined for
this vars, then the following lin processes will
install the kde apps to the new location.
One problem can be updating the PATH var according
to the new defined values.
Another problem can be the inconsecvent usage of
different values which can spread the KDE apps in
multiple locations.
I am open to any new ideas concerning this new
proposed scheme. In the mean time i will not change
any other definition for KDE modules until a final
solution will be accepted.
Yours,
Florin
