bootsplash?

thanks nathan. 

as for using linux-2.6-cko as the base, i'm not going to use it. i may
look into using gensplash, but cko is giving me some problems with
lockups, so i'd rather use a more stable kernel. i will be compiling a
vanilla kernel tonight and if i have time, i'll start playing with
nathans howto.
