NVIDIA module fails

Somewhere along the line, my box has had it so that after every reboot, X doesn't
start because it fails to load the NVIDIA module.  I can lin NVIDIA, and then X
will work just fine, but I don't understand why if behaves like this after a
reboot (or cold boot too...).  Any suggestions?
