Hello !

I currently use some packages that maybe could interest someone else, if someone want to add them in the moonbase :

Xaw3d : 

The graphic library Three-D Athena Widgets (Xaw3d)

gv :  (need Xaw3d)

gv allows to view and navigate through PostScript and PDF documents on an X display by providing a user interface for the ghostscript interpreter.

Mowitz : (need Xaw3d)

A library required for the Siag office tool

siag : (need Xaw3d and Mowitz)()

Siag Office is a free office package which consists of the spreadsheet Siag, the word processor PW, the animation program Egon, the text editor XedPlus, the file manager Xfiler and the previewer Gvu.

I like this package because it gives a light spreadsheet that doesn't require gnome or KDE, and take less than 2 minutes to load on my computer.

gprolog :

GNU Prolog is a free Prolog compiler with constraint solving over finite domains developed by Daniel Diaz.

SWI-prolog : 

SWI-Prolog is a Free Software Prolog compiler, licensed under the Lesser GNU Public License. Together with its graphics toolkit XPCE, its development started in 1987 and has been driven by the needs for real-world applications. Being free, small and standard compliant, SWI-Prolog has become very popular for education. After changing to a coherent and open license policy commercial application is quickly growing.

It is more object-oriented than gprolog.

dosemu :

DOSEMU stands for DOS Emulation, and is a linux application that enables the Linux OS to run many DOS programs - including some DPMI apps.

You'll need to download some version of DOS, type

    $ lin freedos

to install a binary version of freedos

freedos : (well, this is a binary stuff, I don't know if this is ok...)

binary version of freedos to run dosemu.

The directory supposed to be C:/ will be found in $PREFIX/share/dosemu/freedos

libwpd : 

libwpd is a general purpose library for reading (or, interpreting data from) WordPerfect files. The library is not a stand-alone utility: it is designed to be used by another program (e.g.: a word processor) as an in-process component. Some stand-alone utilities are also available to demonstrate the use of libwpd. There are the conversion utilities wpd2html, wpd2text (included with the main libwpd distribution), which convert WordPerfect Documents to html and text documents respectively.

wp2latex : (when the previous one didn't work)

WP2LaTeX is a program, which is designed to translate WordPerfect documents into LaTeX 2.09 and LaTeX 2.0e. The current version is abble to cope with WordPerfect 4.x; WordPerfect 5.x  and WordPerfect 6.x documents. It is only command line program. WP2LaTeX is NOT a text procesor and converted documents will require a LaTeX document procesor.

What is a purpose of WP2LaTex?

You have WP document and you don't know what to do with it. (May be, that somebody sended you a WP file.) You will not require Word Perfect any more. Just type WP2LaTex and convert your document.

You want to create a publication and you want to use a real typesetting system. So you can solve to write a plain text without mumber of formating commands, convert it to LaTeX and typeset.

One byte was changed in your wp file and Word Perfect hangs during loading a document? So you have the last chance to use -safemode in WP2LaTex and safe what can be safed. Don't expect much from this feature, but if you really don't know what to do with corrupted WP file try WP2LaTeX.

xlhtml :

Contains 2 programs:
  - The ppthtml program will take a PowerPoint 97/95 file as input and convert it to html. The output is via standard out so it can be re-directed to files or piped to filters or used as a gateway to the internet.
    - The xlhtml program will take an Excel 95, or 97 file as input and convert it to highly optimized  html. The output is via standard out so it can be re-directed to files or piped to filters or used as a gateway on the internet.

I like the 3 last since they allow to look at Excel and Word Perfect files in mutt, very usefull when you receive administrative stuff in those two formats.
