Hi!
Here's the latest weekly news edition!
=====================================================================
Happy easter people!
As you are reading this I'm already enjoying my long easter weekend after
working 11 weeks straight without a day off already again. We cut a big hole
of 4 months into 2004 already and things are showing. The tulips around here
are starting to blossom and apparently Sweden is now snow free!
Enough with the chitchat. On the code side, it's been a relatively normal
week without big things. XOrg's Xserver is now active in x11 and no longer
considered beta, although I would like to stress that it's a very newly
packaged product so be on the lookout. We however encourage people to try
out XOrg and replace xfree86 that way. Hopefully we can offer everyone
a decent X in the future this way.
Nick promised he'll release gnome 2.6 just before the easter egg searching
rituals, but forgot to mention the timezone... The rest of past updates
is as usual listed below.
One smaller adjustment to theedge that will make your boxes a bit more
cleaned up is that doc directories with Makefiles in them won't be installed
anymore as 'garbage'. This will save considerable space on desktops, and
cleaned up about 200mb on my box alone already. However I'm a bit reluctant
still to cut over theedge to lunar since there are some artifacts from
the last code changes that need to be tweaked, although it's mostly
cosmetics and doesn't affect normal users.
We're also setting up a new website. For a very long time now a few of us
have been reviewing new website systems that are actively maintained and
give us the features that we want. Most of all, this includes a single
point of login for posting on forums, bugs and whatever you can think of
you would post to at lunar-linux.org. The site is currently being built
and you may help testing at http://lunar-linux.org/~sofar/drupal/ .
/me goes to chase the easter bunny (chocolate!)
