Except that alsa-utils/libs should be able to compile against anything which
provides ALSA drivers (which the 2.5/2.6 kernels do). It works fine on my
machines by just removing the dependencies on alsa-drivers and recasting. So,
technically, alsa-drivers and the linux kernel (when >= 2.5) should provide
alsa-drivers somehow.
