Fontconfig Problems

I know some people have complained about not being able to run abiword2
because it said no fonts are found. Well you can fix the problem this
way or wait till later when I can properly fix the Xfree86 module.
Unless you want to recompile X I suggest that you fix it this way :)..

$ vim /etc/fonts/fonts.conf

Look for the lines that have this:

        <dir>/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts</dir>
        <dir>/usr/share/fonts</dir>
        <dir>~/.fonts</dir>

Change it to this:

        <dir>/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/TTF</dir>
        <dir>/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/Type1</dir>
        <dir>/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/misc</dir>
        <dir>/usr/share/fonts/truetype</dir>
        <dir>~/.fonts</dir>

For some reason SOME gtk2 apps need the entire directory specified in
the fontcache to be able to render the fonts. I really dont know why
but I will fix it in the Xfree86 module as soon as I figure out a good
way to go about doing it.

After you do that you will need to rerun fc-cache

$ fc-cache -f

All of this as root of course. If anyone has any questions please let
me know or just reply to this mail. Sorry for the trouble, I didnt
experience this till tonight and found a quick solution to the problem.

Thanks

Nick Hudson
