I already wrote a whole reply - no idea where it went, so here we go again:

1. codewise it can be done, no-brainer really

2. long-term impact: conflicts will become less clear, we'll get conflicting conflicts

3. motivational argument *for* this code is weak: having xproto conflict with XOrg-test is enough - we are still not writing a distro for babies and your mom. There is really no reason to add all xorg7 modules to the XOrg-test/CONFLICTS and XOrg-test to all xorg7-modules' conflicts. I think most users can figure that one out. Once xorg7 replaces xorg-6.8.x it will remove another conflict too. We already killer xfree86 so those are out of the equation as well.

bottom line: too much code for a small problem...
