krb5 module

can someone tell me why we pull the kerberos module from a alternate
server than the main one at MIT?  and also why the patch is in place?
Why cant we pull from the MIT servers and install a basic install??  I
am trying to get the ximian-connector to compile and work and even if
I have kerberos installed it says I dont.  I am just trying to figure
out why our module is the way it is.
