I'm sorry, if the admin isn't with it enough to stop a daemon before 
removing the code I don't believe we should be hacking lunar to 
fix that.

this stuff just makes the code base larger and (imo) adds marginal 
value.

the 80:20 rule rules here, kiss principle likewise
