Would you mind trying with gcc 4.1.2? I can't reproduce the problem with
that version. Havn't bothered to downgrade since 4.1.2 is what we
currently support.

Fixed with commit r25620. Canna got confused about CPP and CPPFLAGS
variables on x86_64, removing them fixed the problem.
