Ok, this is a bug in xfprint: it saves config information with full path
:/

To fix it try this:

1) log out of X or killall xfce-mcs-manager

2) remove ~/.config/xfce4/mcs_plugins/xfprint.xml

3) Set the appropriate printing backend in the settings dialog.

That should do it.

I've changed the default location for FXce from /opt/lunar/ to /usr/
using 'lunar set XFCE4_PREFIX' on sofar's recommendation. Everything
seems to work fine and gdm works with XFce 'out-of-box' now. but
xfprint seems to have trouble now:

bash-3.00$ xfprint4

** ERROR **: Unable to load printing system module
/opt/lunar/xfce4/lib/xfce4/xfprint-plugins/file_plugin.so
aborting...
Aborted
bash-3.00$ xfprint-manager

** ERROR **: Unable to load printing system module
/opt/lunar/xfce4/lib/xfce4/xfprint-plugins/file_plugin.so
aborting...
Aborted
bash-3.00$ locate xfprint-plugins/file_plugin.so
/usr/lib/xfce4/xfprint-plugins/file_plugin.so

The latter seems to be correct. xfprint searches for it's plugins on
the wrong place though. I already did a 'lin -r -c xfprint', which
didn't help. Not even after modifying xfprint's BUILD....

TIA!

Could you try to rebuild libxfce4util with XFCE4_PREFIX=/usr?

I'll have a closer look later today.
