Summary: gst-plugins fails to compile
Description:
Probably fixed in GNOME_UNSTABLE but we should be helping out the users not
just the devs. Heres the error, obviously a problem with alsa:

Yeah problem here is that the latest "Stable" version for gst-plugins,
unfortunatly it is incompatible with the newer version of alsa. If we
update gstreamer and gst-plugins to the "unstable" version of 0.7.x things
in Gnome 2.4.2 will not compile, like nautilus-media, gnome-media etc. Due
to the fact they are based on the 0.6.x versions of gstreamer and do not
compile with the newer versions of gstreamer and gst-plugins.

As far as a solution, yes its fixedin GNOME_UNSTABLE but that wont be
ready till Gnome 2.6 is out in April I believe. Now I can update
gstreamer and gst-plugins to the 0.7.x versions that would correct this
problem, but some of the Gnome stuff would fail on compile. Anyone have
any better suggestions?

We could add an older version to alsa , and then if the lvu installed is
not that version, error out of the lin. It's a lot of work for a couple
of apps, but perhaps similar problems are out there that we just dont know
about?
