Thomas,

This error is because your host.def file is not proper for your system.

please lin -r -c xfree86 and select the option to reconfigure your host.def 
file

we have a nice dialog based configurator,  select optoions that you want, your 
devices and other goodies

Tchan, what does host.def look like on the iso?  is there a more approperate 
default we can throw in there?
